Be responsible for undertaking visits for the Housing Options& Advice Service
Write up outcome of each visit and update the computer system.

Work proactively with clients to prevent homelessness through mediating between excluder and applicant, identifying any underlining issues causing the threat of homelessness and negotiating with landlords and their agents.

Identify cases where homelessness can be prevented or delayed, and provide appropriate, relevant advice and assistance to seek alternative accommodation.

Analyse customer needs and advise customers on their rights and obligations, including identifying internal and external referral agencies for additional specialist advice or support needs.

Liaise with other sections of the Housing Department, other Council Departments and external bodies where necessary.

Provide clients with information and advice on the various schemes available to Hackney residents, e.g
mobility schemes, and carry out basic eligibility checks before making referrals to the appropriate team or partner.

Support special projects and events as directed by the Managers and Team Leaders within the team by providing administrative support in order to enhance service delivery.

Dealing with referrals, booking and rebooking appointments accordingly for service request, when and wherever necessary and to ensure that client and staff are fully notified of such bookings.

Responsible for updating the team calendar as well as other service calendars in a timely manner.

From time to time acting as a point of contact for telephone callers and take messages and refer complex issues to the appropriate officer to the Team leader.

Ensure that the highest standards of customer care and communication practices are adhered to when carrying out the functions of this post, ensuring that the Council meets its obligations under the Service Seven Standards.

Take the responsibility for managing own workload and seek support or guidance for any obstacles that may impact on the provision of the day to day administrative function.

Maintain accurate, consistent and up-to-date records which are to be available to managers as and when required for performance or auditing purposes.

Carry out such other duties as may reasonably be required by the Team Leader or the Housing Options Manager.
