PCA/carer Needed, Mon-Fri. £9.50 per hour. (London)
Address: Kilburn, London

PCA (Personal Care Assistant) required.

Hello there, I'm a young woman in my thirties with a physical disability: I have advanced weakness in all of my limbs
I am a full time powered wheelchair user
I love life, and I endeavour to live it to the fullest
Having great PCAs is an integral part of this, as with a wonderful team, I am able to make the most of each day
I’m a hard working enthusiast spirit
I love spending time with my loved ones, and I'm always open to new experiences that bring joy, knowledge and that help me to increase my self-awareness
I live in my own flat with my gorgeous little dog and kitty, and I have personal care assistants (PCAs), who assist me to live independently
It is essential for me to have a patient, dedicated PCA, who respects my autonomy: we all have certain ways of getting ready, doing our make-up, putting on our clothes, etc - it's important I'm assisted in a similar way, to the way I'd do it myself
I've been blessed & have employed many PCAs who respect and understand these needs - it's such a gift
My PCAs are very important to me
I encourage openness, respect, mindfulness and good communication between the two of us.

I'm looking for a female (due to the personal nature of the job, although I will consider all applicants) PCA, who is warm, professional and friendly
Who respects boundaries and confidentiality, and is dedicated to the job.

Working schedule: Monday to Friday
You would be working for a minimum of 25 hours per week, and sometimes you will be able to work more hours
Shift times vary, however, I will most often need your assistance in the mornings.

I require help with all aspects of my personal care:

Aspects of the role:
• Bathing
• Washing and dressing
• Assisting me with using the toilet
• Shaving and other grooming routines
• Transferring me
Making me comfortable
• Applying make-up & hair styling (I love experimenting with make-up and hair styles).
• Domestic chores
• I'm a sociable person, so assisting me while I'm out socially
• Occasionally assisting me to care for my gorgeous small dog and cat
• Assisting me at my place of work
• Driving me in my vehicle

Job requirements:
• A positive, mindful and kind nature
• Dedication to the job: deep respect for your role and fondness for care work
• An understanding that everyone is different, therefore we all have different care needs
• Patience
• To be flexible with working times
• Excellent punctuality
• You will need to possess good conversational communication skills, be able to work from your own initiative, and have good listening skills in order to be able to follow direction
• A full driving licence is essential
• Overtime will be necessary to cover holiday and sickness of my other PCAs
• Be able to commit to the role for a minimum of a year
• Occasional night cover
• Previous care experience is not essential, however, I do ask that you've thoroughly considered whether you'd be comfortable with assisting me with my personal care.

Interview: if I feel we'd work well together, I'll contact you by telephone, so that we can get to know each other a little, and speak more about the role
I would then potentially offer you a face-to-face interview
Mostly I want to get get to know you, your work style and whether we'd work well together, so just be yourself
I'd also need reference information, proof of identification, a driving licence and preferably a current DBS/CRB.

Enhanced DBS/CRB will be required
If you are successful in becoming hired, I can arrange for you to have a DBS (at no cost to yourself).

You would be working in a positive, engaging and fun working environment: I encourage communication
I believe listening and compromise is key
I can train you in many aspects of care work
I have full employer insurance
You will gain valuable experience
You will receive paid holiday time.

The job trial scheme is available whilst training for the job
After training the rate is £9.50 an hour
Weekend and other bonuses will be given
If you are interested and wish to apply for this job, please attach your CV, introduce yourself, and briefly tell me why you would like this job
I look forward to hearing from you :)
