KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND MAIN DUTIES:

* To investigate and provide a written response to formal complaints
In accordance with the established Complaints Procedure, take action to rectify mistakes/malpractice and prevent recurrence.

* To liaise with other services in the Finance Directorate, other Council Directorates and relevant external agencies
To attend meetings, Courts, working parties and other benefit forums, as directed.

* To keep the Team Leader informed of work progress and any problem areas, providing statistics and information as required.

* To use Information Communication Technology systems in the pursuit of duties.

* To undertake such training as necessary to fully carry out the full range of duties and responsibilities attached to the post.

* To assist the Team Leader in the induction of new staff and provide day to day guidance and advice to other benefit staff.

* To deal with telephone enquiries both internal and external, when required, in a polite and professional manner, remaining customer focused and orientated at all times.

* To be self motivated and have the ability to work on your own initiative with the minimum of supervision.

* To be flexible and be able to work outside normal working hours when required including weekends.

* To undertake and/or lead on any special projects relating to improvements to system processes and/or the operation of the computer software the benefit service uses.

* To be committed to achieving & delivering service objectives & targets also personal objectives & targets as agreed through the appraisal process.

* To be committed to self development and undertake relevant training including meetings, supervision, seminars and other events necessary.

* To be committed to and promote the Council's Equalities, Diversity, Customer Focus Health & Safety and other core policies ensuring that as part of a team understand and comply with these policies.

* To carry out all duties in accordance with all relevant legislation, codes of practice and Council policies and procedures.

* To undertake additional duties and responsibilities commensurate with the grade as may be required directed by your line manger.
