I started tutoring English as a foreign language at the age of 16
Since then, I have privately tutored a variety of subjects over the course of my adult life, to children, teenagers, and adults, and have lost count of how many.
I have also worked in education in a variety of settings, from the classroom to the galleries of The Natural History Museum, London, around most of Western Europe on educational tours for American teenagers, and within adult education
I currently run creative writing courses at Stoke Lodge and elsewhere in Bristol.
I have lived in France, Germany, and South America and speak a number of other languages
My experience of learning foreign languages and knowing what it is like to be a foreigner have helped developed my sensitivity to issues all learners face, and to pick up quickly on areas where an individual is less confident
I love to laugh, and believe learning is best when we have fun too.

I like being close to nature and walking in the countryside.
I am a writer, visual artist and mum.
I teach from our colourful home on a quiet road in Southville, close to Wapping Wharf and the centre of town.

I believe in making learning fun, and have a creative approach to all teaching
I often use my training in theatre to communicate information in clear and innovative ways.
I use my experience of many years' teaching to address each student's unique needs
I seek to stimulate their individual ideas and help them to discover their own voice and gain confidence in their own expression.
I believe in the power of words, and hold a love of language and literature, which I enjoy the challenge of sharing, even with those who have become switched off the subject
Alongside essay-writing techniques, I work to help each student develop a personal relationship with each text and enjoyment in discussing it, and thereby empower their own abilities of reflection and discourse.
