Couple living near Bury St Edmunds need a live in Home Helper earning min GBP2715 p.c.m. end October (London)
Address: London

Couple living near Bury St Edmund’s need live in Home Helper earning £2500 p.c.m.

Our clients are down-sizing to a more manageable house on the outskirts of a small village - with a new and separate annex for a carer currently being renovated and with new carpets throughout - near Bury St Edmund’s, Suffolk
This is one and a half hours from London Liverpool Street by train to Stowmarket
Go to the Bury St Edmunds website to give you an idea of the area and your nearest town just four miles away.

Our client’s wife (69) has Vascular Dementia, is relatively immobile and requires help with dressing and personal care
Her husband (80) finds having to care for his wife becoming increasingly testing
They now require someone, preferably in their 50’s or early 60’s and with experience in looking after someone with Dementia, who can assist his wife as well as do the daily shopping and cooking for them both
A cleaner comes in 3 or 4 days a week and a weekly gardener is also employed.

You need to be happy with your own company because, obviously, the couple have one another for company
There will be TV and a WiFi connection
There will be, after refurbishment, a good sized bed / sitting room with bathroom and your own entrance
A car will be provided for your occasional use and it is a pre-condition that you have a UK / EU driving licence or will be able to get one if you currently hold, for example, a South African driving licence
If you don’t have or cannot get either, this is not the job for you
Repeat …
you absolutely need to have a valid driving licence and should have at least 20 years’ experience driving a right hand drive car on the left hand side of the road – think about it please.

You should be a good cook accustomed to cooking in the British style and using fresh ingredients and not pre-cooked bought-in food
If you are a microwave and kettle person more comfortable producing pre-cooked supermarket food this is not the job for you
Small and appetising dishes prettily presented are a good inducement for the elderly to eat
You will be expected to cook for small dinner parties for close friends and family from time to time so a degree of cooking expertise will be expected.

This long term assignment falling into our Category BB and paying £104.50 gross per day for a 6 day week earning £627 gross per week or £2715 per calendar month; plus free accommodation, electricity, heating, council tax, TV licence, WiFi connection, no travel to work costs and the use of a car all of which are perquisites that go with the job
This has to be worth at least £1500.00 per month tax free
This is a long term assignment so will not be a suitable assignment for a “swallow" – spending the summer in the UK and then going “home” for the summer in the southern hemisphere
You will be paid weekly upon receipt of your Claim form and it is assumed you a computer savvy enough to be able to send the form in to the office as an attachment to an e-mail each week otherwise we can work with paper and the unreliability of the Royal Mail.

It is anticipated that the renovation of the carers annexe will be complete by mid October and that the Clients will move from their large old house to their new one near Bury St
Edmunds at this time
Suitable applicants will be therefore be interviewed at the new house on or about 19 / 20 October and will, if successful, be expected to take up the assignment as soon as possible
All travel costs to the interview and, if you are offered it, to taking up the assignment, will be refunded to you.

Applicants must have or be awaiting receipt of their own National Insurance number and should either be registered or be prepared to register with Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs as self-employed – if not registered, we can give advice with the HMRC registration procedure
You will also be expected to have Public Liability insurance cover – again we can give advice on this.

English should, preferably, be your home language but if not, you must speak it fluently because elderly people tend to find foreign accents confusing.

If you are interested in this long term assignment and, possibly, have Zimbabwean or South African interests or connections, you should initially reply via the Gumtree e-mail giving your name, experience and, most importantly, your mobile phone number
After a telephone discussion with you and if you are considered suitable, you will be sent more general information about the assignment and an Application form for you to complete and return
There will be competition for this assignment so you should not delay applying and responding if you are contacted and please remember to keep your mobile with you at all times which, if you’re looking for a job, seems logical.

It’s important you try and write an informative e-mail about yourself so that it stands out
If you can attach a personal CV or Resume to your e-mail, this gives you an advantage as would scanned copies of references and a photograph of yourself
CV’s tend to be factually correct but rather impersonal so please, if you are really interested in being interviewed for this assignment, take as much care answering this advertisement as has been taken preparing it and don’t forget to give your mobile number
To merely send a blank e-mail with a CV attached indicates you are using the “scatter gun” approach and may simply result in the delete button being hit
Make the effort and hope to reap the rewards!
